Play-time :-)

Playing with patterns that I don't use very often: Trio, Aura-Leah, Fescu and... I forgot the name of the tangle bottom left ;-)

Joey's challenge #71

Joey's Monotangle Challenge arrived at the letter H of Hollibaugh. I recently did a Hollibaugh 'focus' for the Facebook group Square One. You can see it here.

Since this was not a Monotangle, and it was already on my blog, I wanted to make another one. My idea was to use string #044, tangle Hollibaugh over it and let the string decide which parts have a black background, and which parts a white. As you can see when you know pattern #044, I made a little 'mistake' ;-)

I don't mind: the result still looks nice and my husband (who doesn't know these strings) didn't notice :-)

Diva's Challenge #228

This week Cari Sultanik is the guest blogger at I am the Diva's Challenge. Cari asks us to go organic ;-)
I decided to keep my tile simple and quiet. I even wonder if this can be called a 'zentangle', but it was a lovely thing to do. Thanks, Cari!

That's New to Me: D

Suzy Mosh challenges us to use a tangle that's new to me (Dooleedo) and a pattern of the Artist Focus Sandy Hunter (I chose Lola). I wasn't sure what to put next to these two patterns, so I drew some small flying objects in the air ;-)

Practising patterns

Sometimes, it's nice to just tangle away. This is what I did today in String #120 and the following patterns: Yew-Dee, Zin, DL Sunray and Fife.

It's a String Thing #102

This week, Adele Bruno challenges us to use string #102 and the patterns Frost Flower, SeZ and Graancirkel. Not the most easy ingredients to use together. The result is a bit more grey than I would have liked, but that's personal ;-)

Around Bic

Playing with Bic, the flowery circle pattern in the middle. I decided to put Footlites around it. The result looks like a flower shouting out loud: 'I'm here!'
:-)

U-N-I challenge

Yesterday, I was thinking I should use Inapod again. Today, I saw the challenge of Diane & Carolien and was pleased with the coincidence: they ask us to use patterns starting with U, N and I.

The choice to use Inapod was quickly made, and I decided to put Undling and Nipa on my tile as well.

Thanks for another nice challenge, Diane and Carolien!

Joey's Challenge #70

We've arrived at the letter G at Joey's monotangle challenge, and she chose the pattern Girdy for us.

I chose string #044 and created a little Girdy party ;-)

Diva's Challenge #227

Lee Darter is this week's guest blogger at the Diva's Challenge. She asks us to create a Circus tile, using Cack, Tripoli and one more tangle, choosing between Florz, Linq and Fescu. I used the last two recently, so Florz is my third tangle.

Somehow, I like 'tidy' tiles ;-) so it was a real challenge to me how to put these three tangles in one tile. Below, you see the result. You might notice I used Florz to give my Circus Tent a roof, it's the world upside down :-)

Thanks for visiting my blog! Your comments are much appreciated.

Stacked and Tangled #7

It's some time ago that I made a zentangle tile for Facebook's group Stacked and Tangled. So... here's a new one :-)

From top to bottom, you can see (a variation of) Orbs-la-Dee, Tearce, Owlz, Msst, Moonpie and Weave.

Square One: Hollibaugh

Facebook's group Square One asked us to focus on Hollibaugh. Somehow, I got inspired to create a Space Station with a little bit of help from Arukas ;-)

It's a String Thing #101

Adele Bruno is starting the next 100 challenges ;-)

We're using string #101 and the patterns HG and Rixty. Not an evident combination in this string, in my opinion, but I tried my best :-)

Dyon and friends

I saw the pattern Dyon (bottom left) in somebody else's zentangle tile and wanted to try it myself. Love it!

Around Dyon, you see Rain, Nipa and Tipple.

Thanks for visiting my blog!

That's New to Me: #28

This week, our random letter at Suzy Mosh' challenge is W. This letter is a repeat, so we're also asked to use at least one pattern by the Artist Focus of this week: Erin Olson.

This resulted in me chosing two new patterns to me: Wiffles (which I used as a border) and Bault. That was a fun challenge!

Joey's Challenge #69

We have reached the letter F at Joey's Monotangle Challenge and Joey picked out Florez to tangle with. I ended up liking this pattern much more than I thought I would, nice! :-)

Diva's Challenge #226

This week's guest blogger is Katie Crommett, also a Certified Zentangle Teacher. It's always nice to meet new people :-) so I took a look around at her blog. There I saw her latest new pattern, called Daviso. As Katie mentions herself, it's so simple and recognizable!

Well, this sounds like a perfect tangle to use in the challenges she gives us at the Diva blog: practice the art of simplicity. 'Be conscious of when you've reached your point of "enoughness".'

As you can see below, three patterns was quite enough to me to 'fill' string 128. I used Daviso, Weave and Beelight.

Thanks for visiting my blog! I really loved reading your comments in the past weeks :-)

L-Q-D Challenge

Diane and Carolien challenge us to tangle a tile with patterns starting with L, Q and D. Linq is a favorite pattern of mine and I combined it with Quabog and some Dust Bunnies :-)

Flying Auraknot

Auraknot was a pattern I hadn't done in a while, so I gave it another try, mixed with Drupe this time. It was fun!

Organic patterns

Today, I felt like tangle organic patterns. They have the following names: B'tweed, Gneiss, Nzeppel, Tagh and some patterns without a name (as far as I know ;-) ).

It's a String Thing #100

First of all, I would like to congratulate Adele Bruno with this milestone she reached: 100 challenges! Thanks Adele, for all the work you do for us tanglers :-))

For this special happening, Adele created a string and a new pattern. Both are in the '100' theme, as you can see below. I just added some Ahh as well to give the tile a festive feeling :-)

Joey's Challenge #68: Entwine

Well, this was a real challenge to me! Joey asks us to tangle an Entwine Monotangle. I had never done this pattern before, and it's pretty complicated to me. Once I had (sort of) worked it out, I had to think of how to make a Monotangle with Entwine.

The end result looks like this:

Diva Challenge #225: Color

This week, the first guest post appeared on The Diva's page, while Laura is having a well deserved holiday break. Jen Crutzfield challenges us to make a tile using colour and as she suggested, I limited myself to use only two colours.

Like Jen, I'm more of a 'black-and-white' type of person, but this doesn't mean I won't take the challenge.
To make things even worse :-) I chose to use two colours that easily hurt your eyes when being put together: pink and red.
For the shading I used pink and red colour pencils.

So, you're looking at string #104 and the patterns 2-N-5, Chard, Bales and Zin.

It's not my favorite tile, but I like the brightness of the result :-)

Fengle Fun

Today, I had fun with Fengle. Crescent Moon, Btl Joos, Tipple and Zinger were invited to the party too ;-)

Stacked and Tangled #6

It's still pretty hot outside in Holland, so I spent this afternoon inside to stay a bit cooler than I would have been outside. Good reason to stack and tangle :-)

The patterns I used, from top right to let, are: Flying Geese, Nzeppel, Rain, Heartline, Sand swirl and Fleuri.

Y-H-A challenge

The challenge Diane and Carolien put out this week, is to tangle with Y, H and A. I always like this kind of challenge, but... it's so very hot in The Netherlands right now.

No problem when it comes to quietly practising zentangle, you would say. However, apparently my head was a bit distracted, because when I had almost finished my tile, I realised I had been using H (Hibred) and two times Y (Yoga and Yew-dee) - and no A!!

Luckily the tile wasn't fully finished: I managed to put Arabel in the bottom left corner. Phew, just in time :-)

It's a String Thing #99

We tangle in String #099 for Adele Bruno's Challenge, using Tracery (new to me),Tearce and Tripoli. That was Fun, and I'm looking forward to next week's 100th Challenge of Adele, and all the wonderful treats she prepares for us :-)

Joey's Challenge #67: Dugwud

Joey's Monotangle challenge arrived at D, so she asks us to tangle Dugwud. Since it's pretty hot in the Netherlands right now, I decided to keep it simple in string #135.
