Diva Challenge #246

How nice: Dilip Patel is Laura's guest blogger! He has a lovely challenge: choose any tangle pattern and create a tree using only this pattern. This way, we can create Zentangle Forests to share the message that we need more trees in the world, to combat the climat change. I fully agree, so here's my contribution: a Cat-kin tree, inspired by a weeping willow.

Thanks for visiting my blog, your comments always put a smile on my face :-)

Alphabet challenge #34: H-W-N

Diane and Carolien challenge us to use patterns starting with the letters H, W and N. I chose Henna Drum, Warped eggs and Nymph:

My first Notan

Inspired by two of my Instagram friends, I tried to incorporate the art of Notan with tangle patterns.

Here you can see a short instruction video by Cindy Shepard. It's a cool and easy-to-do technique, so this won't be my last try :-)

Tangling on :-)

String #135 caught my attention :-) and I filled it with lots of patterns. From top left, going clockwise, you see Striping, Puf, Orange Peel, Netting, Tri-bene, Quiltz, Twilight Zone and Tour.

Joey's challenge #88

Joey chose a beautiful pattern for this Monotangle challenge: Yuma. I loved drawing this tile, thank you Joey!

Diva challenge #245

Laura likes us to go back to basics and tangle Hollibaugh, a pattern that uses the drawing behind method. It's really quite simple to draw, and I decided to honour it's simpleness :-)

Thanks for visiting my blog! You're comments are always read and much appreciated.

Auraknot meets Flux

Today I wanted to draw Auraknot, and do it a bit different than normally. It looks a bit odd now ;-) so I put Flux in the background. A lovely tangle I often forget to use!

Alphabet challenge: B-E-X

Diane and Carolien like us to create a tile with patterns starting with B, E and X. I chose Balo, Efilys and X:

After I had finished this tile, I discovered I made one like this before, including two of the same tangles :-) You can see it HERE in my post of October 2014. Funny to notice my hand did get steadier by tangling every week.

It's a String Thing #119

Adele Bruno likes us to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Coca Cola bottle design. To be honest, I stopped drinking Coca Cola quite some years ago, for health reasons. I always like to tangle though :-) so here's my entry for this challenge:

U-K-H challenge

A bit too late (a new challenge is already online at Diane & Carolien's blog), but this is my entry for the Alphabet challenge with the letters U, K and H.

The patterns I used are Unme, Kozy and Hamail. And I used a lot of black ink :-)

Joey's Challenge #87

Joey chose the pattern Xplode for this week's Monotangle challenge. Somehow this tangle reminds me of fireworks, so those inspired me creating this tile :-)

Diva's challenge #244

Tripoli is one of Laura's favourite tangles - this shows in her beautiful tiles! When I draw it, it hardly ever ends up the way I wanted, so I (partly) kept her advice in mind: 'not all triangles must be created equal'.

As you can see on my tile, I used this information above and under the blank part in the middle. On the left and right side, I tried to draw Tripoli in the 'official' way. Now I wish I had done the left and right side in the same way as the other parts.

It was a nice challenge though and I'm still pleased with the result. As I was with your comments on last week's challenge entry: thank you very much :-)

Square One: Paradox

The Square One Facebook-group asks us to focus on the pattern Paradox. My version ended up on a bed of Inapods:

Zendala day

It was some time ago that I tangled in a circle, so here's a new one. In the middle you see Bauer, around it Annee and on the outside Twing. This was fun!

String 156

Today I wanted to try and use string 156. I filled it with Nipa, Msst, Shattuck and da'Deal. Not sure if the pattern I used in the 'divider' (top left and middle to down right and middle) has a specific name as well?

Joey's challenge #86

Joey has chosen to challenge us with the tangle W2 to create a Monotangle with. Quite a difficult pattern to me... A real challenge :-) for which I used string #160:

Monday 9 November 2015

Diva Challenge #243

Like Laura already mentioned: this week's challenge is harder than it looks. When you have to leave 60-70% of the tile blank, it's even more important than normal to really think about a striking composition. It's a real challenge :-) to create something interesting.

Since you're quickly finished drawing this way :-) I decided to try three versions. The first one shows Tootle in white on black:

On the second tile, I put Mak-rah-mee and Abacus together:

Finally I chose to draw Marasu inside a little border frame:

I'm not sure which one is my favorite. Do you have one?

Thanks for visiting my blog, your comments are always read and much appreciated :-)

S-F-T challenge

Diane and Carolien's Alphabet challenge arrived at the letters S, F and T. As I wanted to use Sundoo for the S, I decided to add some other organic-like patterns: Flyz and Telis.

Sunday 8 November 2015

Krli-Qs string

Today I used the beautiful pattern Krli-Qs as some kind of string. Around it, you can see Crescent Moon, Tipple, Diva Dance, Yah and Reticulated. I'm quite pleased with the result :-)

Back to basic

Sometimes, it just geels good to go back to tangle basic patterns, there where the zentangle love once began ;-)

So today, I really enjoyed drawing Scallops, Keeko, Ennies, Popova and Tipz:

TNTM #44

In Suzy Mosh' challenge, we tangle a pattern that's new to s. This week starting with M: I chose Myko and made a variation of it. The Artist focus is Kathy Barringer, and I used her pattern Up N Down as a string. Finally I added Morse to this rather dark tile.

When I was ready to take a picture, our black and white cat Izzy decided his tail fitted in nicely :-)

After plenty of sweet cuddles, he finally let me take a proper photo ;-)

It's a String Thing #117

Adele Bruno created a new tangle she likes us to explore in a Monotangle: Sand. So I did :-) and this is my result:

Wednesday 4 November 2015

Zentangle mountain

Today I wanted to play with some random patterns. I took string #157 and started filling it. From bottom left to top right you can see Jonqual, Jessicup, Fandance and Zinger mixed with Fescu.

Tuesday 3 November 2015

Joey's Challenge #085

Joey's Monotangle Challenge arrived at the V of Verdigogh. A beautiful tangle, but   I find it hard to draw more than one of these in one tile. Since I'm still enjoying Autumn, I decided to use a leaf string.

Monday 2 November 2015

Diva challenge #242

Laura challenges us to use the new official tangle Gourdgeous. When I saw this pattern in the Zentangle HQ newsletter, I wasn't sure what to do with it. So: it was a good thing Laura made me think about it and just try and let it enter in a tile.

I ended up combining it with Diva Dance, Bales and Arukas. Not sure if I will use Gourdgeous very often, but it was nice to give it a try.

Thanks for visiting my blog :-)

Sunday 1 November 2015

That's New to Me #43

Suzy Mosh challenges us to tangle a tile with at least one new to us pattern starting with U. I chose Unagi and added Join by the Artist Focus Elena Hadzijaneva.
