Mini Mooka on an inchie

Oops, I forgot to sign this one... Maybe because my signature would be huge next to this tiny inchie (2,5 x 2,5 cm). So, I just leave it like this for this time.

Are you curious what other people did with this challenge of Joey? Take a look at her blog!

Thank you for visiting my blog - I wish you all the best for 2015!

Square One: Ahh!

Square One (on Facebook) challenged us to tangle the Ahh-pattern. It reminds me of fireworks, which we will see soon at the beginning of 2015. So I decided to create an 'Ahh, look at these beautiful fireworks'- tile :-)

It's a String Thing #72

In this magical time of year, Adele Bruno challenged us to tangle in string 072 and use the tangles Uncorked and Mooka.

Two well-known patterns, that I don't seem to use very often. So, it took me a little time to figure out how to put these in string 072. The result doesn't look as balanced as I wanted, but it was a nice excercise!

Joey's #40: chillon on a twinchie

Joey gave us a nice, restful challenge this week: she wants to see us use the pattern 'Chillon' on a twinchie. That's a miniature card of 5 x 5 cm. Normally, zentangle tiles are 9 x 9 cm.

This challenge was so nice and restful that I decided to make two of them :-)

Square One: Crescent Moon

The Facebook Square One challenge was to focus on one of the earliest tangle patterns we learn: Crescent Moon.

Once finished, this tile looked to me like a  Crescent Moon party where Hollibaugh was invited too :-)

It's a String Thing #71

Adele Bruno chose the new tangle Arukas for this week's challenge, because it reminds her of the Star of the East - and we're close to Christmas!

We were to use string 069 and I decided to use all of the lines the string offers. I like monotangling! Once finished, I realised I should have left some white space in the top right as well to get a tile that is better balanced, but I'm still happy with the result.

Joey's challenge #39

Joey challenged us to tangle a word that describes what the Holiday means to us. 'Joy' was the first thing that came to my mind, so off I went :-)

Diva's Challenge #198: "K.I.S.S. (Keep it simple, silly!)"

This week's Diva Challenge is the same as her very first one four years ago: the challenge to simplify. I'm only in (and addicted :-) ) since July this year, so the challenge was new to me. I chose to use Krli-Qs and CO2.

My tile almost seems too simple to me, but at the same time I like the quietness it sends out. Thanks for that, Laura!

And thank you as well, for visiting my blog! Your comments give me a brighter day :-)

It's a String Thing #70

It's almost Christmas, so this week Adele Bruno chose a string and tangles that are festive: string 073 and two patterns: Verdigogh and Pauline's Pigtail.

I was hesitating what surface to make black: the one under Pauline's Pigtail or the one under Verdigogh. I couldn't leave everything white, it felt I needed to put contrast in this tile. Finally, I decided to make the middle part black and do some shadowing over Pauline's Pigtail. Now that it's finished, I'm not sure if the black is too much of a weight over Pauline's (now squashed ;-) ) Pigtail. Luckily the last one still looks airy ;-)

Square One: Indy-Rella

The Facebook-group Square One challenged us to create a tile with Indy-Rella. Other patterns I used are Auraknot, Punzel and Ojo. A funny combination, which was really nice to do!

Playing around

I love the style of Helen Williams and was pleased to receive her 2014 Pattern Folio. It's so nice to use her creative ideas! Thank you, Helen!

Diva's Challenge #197: Arukas

Arukas: a new official tangle. It's very nice to play with, I discovered :-) To put some variation into the tile, I added some Btl Joos.

Take a look at the other Arukas entries at the Diva's blog. It's very nice to see all the Arukas-creations of other people.

Thank you for taking a look at my blog - your comments are allways welcome :-)

Joey's challenge #37

Winter arrived at Joey's place, so she asked us to use 'snow' tangles:
S - Scrumble
N - Nvelope
O - Ojo
W - Widgets

Tangling kept me warm :-)

It's a String Thing #69

We were Tickled to Tangle string 067 and use Sand Swirl, Screen, Snowzags and Sooflowers. Another nice challenge from Adele Bruno!

Diva's challenge #196: All Dolled Up

This week's Diva guest blogger is Emily Classon. She asked us to get inspired by dolls, which is a real challenge to me, because I never was a dolls-girl :-) However, I love magic fairies (who doesn't :-) ), so I tried to create a tangled version. It didn't really work out the way I wanted, but at least she looks happy ;-)

Joey's weekly challenge #36

Joey asked us to use a hexagon shaped style. I decided to fill it with CO2, Navajo, Nzeppel, Spokes, Nymph and a pattern that I don't know the name of (at the bottem in the middle)

Square One: ING

Here's my challenge tile for the Facebook Square One group, using ING and paying special attention to shadowing. I decided to put some Baton around it.

It's a String Thing #68

This week's challenge by Adele Bruno is to use string #064 and the following patterns: Jax, Undling, Drip Drop and Ixorus. Only the last one was a pattern I used before, the others were new to me - and much liked :-)

Diva's Challenge #195

Another guest post at Diva's blog: this week it's Sandy Hunter. She asked us to change the structure of a pattern, while still retaining its basic basic elements. So: I put Inapod in a grid and Flux in a line. That was fun to do, thank you Sandy! I'm curious to see what other people did.

Thanks as well to everybody who left (or leaves ;-) ) a comment. Makes me happy!

It's a String Thing #67

Adele Bruno asked us this week to make Zentangle Inspired Art (ZIA) by using string #070 and putting in 3 words. Which words? The ones that came to my mind first when thinking about the things I'm grateful for in life. So, I used the words Love, Friends and Sun and tangled Crescent Moon and Cornerz around it.

Something quilt-like

Joey's weekly challenge #35 is to tangle something that looks like a quilt. I've never quilted, so I just did what I felt 'quiltish' ;-)

It's okay in black and white, but when I think of a quilt, I think of plenty colours. Good reason to use my glaze 3D rollers!

Diva's Weekly Challenge #194

This week's Diva challenge was a... Challenge - to say the least! Tangling (and shading) with our non-dominant hand to 'Embrace the Yuck'...

Of course I want to give Laura and her familie all the support and solidarity they need and deserve, but this challenge made me clear that I'm totally righthanded :-) Also, I'm not sure if I got that great zen-feeling this time, but hey: life isn't all about fun. My spider still sort of looks like a spider though, doesn't he? ;-)

It's a String Thing #66

Adele Bruno challenged us to use string 063 and four tangle patterns starting with E: Echo, Eez, Eke and Eyelet & Ribbon. I decided to put some colour in it as wel, for a change ;-)

Joey's challenge #34: Knightsbridge monotangle

This week's technique challenge at Madebyjoey is to draw a monotangle using Knigtsbridge. That's a lovely tangle and I like to make monotangles, so I am happy :-)
(String #109)

Diva's Weekly Challenge #193 : TriTangle

Holly Atwater, this weeks' guest blogger at the Diva Challenge, liked to issue a challenge of THX (thanks). Why? Beacause today is Veteran's Day in the United States and in a couple of weeks, it's Thanksgiving. In France and Belgium, today is Armistice Day, so plenty of things to commemorate.

The patterns we were to use, are Trio, Huggins and Xyp. They form a lovely TriTangle with a heart in the middle to say THANKS!

I would like to say thanks to you as well for visiting my blog! :-)

Square One: Krli-Qs

The Facebook challenge at Square One is to tangle Swarm. I decided to keep it simple and quiet and added some Krli-Qs.

N-O-V

Tangle it Tuesday's challenge is to use tangles starting wit N, O and V.

I used string #007 and the following patterns: Nymph, Onamato, Vanity and Vortex:

Square One: Punzel

Facebook's Square One Challenge is to use Punzel. For some reason, I decided to put Drupe in the background, which doesn't give all the attention to Punzel. But hey: I fancied doing Drupe, and so I did. Sorry Punzel... ;-)

It's a String Thing #65

This week's Tickled to Tangle challenge is to use string #065 and fill it with Paiz, Angel Fish and Tesali. The result looks a bit messy and busy, but I like the contrast I could put in. Thank you for the challenge, Adele!

Diva Challenge #192

Diva's Guest blogger Cris Letourneau arranged a lovely challenge, in which we were asked to use Seton. I wasn't really zen this week, so the lines aren't all as straight as I would have liked. It's allright to me, since tangling gave me the relaxation I needed.

It's a String Thing #64

Adele Bruno challenged us to use string 095 and the following patterns: Charlie, Owlz, Roxi and N'Zeppel. I thought it would look a bit 'busy' if I filled up every part of the string, so I decided to leave one part in white. The tile being finished, I'm not sure if it's a bit boring this way, but this is what I chose to do, so I'll stick to the idea ;-)

T-U-E

This week's Tackle it Tuesday challenge was to use tangles starting with T-U-E. I used Teardrop border, Uncorked and Efilys. Lovely tangles!

Diva Challenge #191: Monotangle Betweed

'Monotangle' and 'Betweed': two things I love! So, I was happy with this week's Diva Challenge :-)
I tried to pay extra attention to the shadowing part.

Curious to see the other entries this week!

Halloween

Halloween is coming up, so Joey challenged us to tangle a witch's hat. I put some Web in the background (with a spider :-) ) and used Orbs-la-Dee, PomX2, Bask-it and some fantasy flower pattern.

Thursday, 23 October 2014

It's a string thing #63

Adele Bruno challenged us to use string 66 and some Q tangles. I chose Quib, Quandary and Quiltz and had a lot of fun with them. Thank you for another great challenge, Adele!

Diva's Weekly Challenge #190: "Pink for Ardath*"

This week, Laura asked us to use some pink in honour of Ardath, her grandmother who passed away due to complications of breast cancer.

My own gran, Alida, passed away 4 years ago at the age of 96, after having survived cancer at her 84th! She was a wonderful person who loved plants and flowers, and her favorite colour was pink. So, in honour of these two special grandmothers, I made this tile.

Tackle it Tuesday: M-O-N

This week's Tackle it Tuesday challenge is to use tangle patterns starting with M, O and N.
I tried Newell (new to me), Ogle and... NyMph... The last one was a mistake: I overlooked that I already had an N-tangle. Oops, wrong idea! Luckily there's an M in Nymph ;-)

It's a String Thing #62

Tuesday was Adele Bruno's birthday. Happy belated birthday, Adele!

As a present ;-) I used her tangle Uncorked as a monotangle. Okay, I put a tiny little bit of Tipple in it, but since this is  pattern of Adele as well, I don't think this is a problem :-)

Diva's weekly challenge #189

This weeks's challenge from the Diva is a UMT (Use My Tangle) and we're using Yuma by Tina-AKUA. Tina: I love this tangle! Thank you for sharing it with us.

I decided to combine it with Inapod (a favorite of mine as well) and Striping. Quite like the result, it's always surprising to see what's growing out of your own hands :-)

Joey's challenge #30

Yesterday was Thanksgiving in Canada, so Joey chose 6 tangles representing things you may find on the Thanksgiving dinner table.
No Thanksgiving in the Netherlands, so plenty of time to tangle away ;-)

I chose string 126 and used all 6 tangles: Trivet, Allium, Kuke, Half Onions, Nvelope, Sunflower.
Nice challenge!
