Diva's Challenge #233

Laura is back from her Summer holiday, and she's challenging us to tangle the new official pattern Zenith. When I hear that word, I think of astronomy, without knowing exactly what it means ;-)

I guess this tangle name inspired me to add some Borbz to the tile - and make it look spacey all together :-)

Thank you very much for visiting my blog, you're comments brighten my day (or should I say my starry night? ;-) ).

Golden oldies

Today, I liked to use some 'golden oldies' ;-) Footlites, Nipa, Fife, Meer and Flukes were the lucky ones :-)

Yin-cut Focus

Square One at Facebook asks us to focus on Yin-cut, and I decided to put an Auraknot in the middle of it. Nice way to focus ;-)

That's New to Me: P

Suzy Mosh asks us to tangle a 'new to me' tangle starting with P. I chose Pand  and put it in the bottom right in string #005. Around it, you see 2-N-5, Brella and Buttercup.

Joey's challenge #75

Yeah, Joey chose Linq for this week's Alphabet Monotangle :-) A favorite tangle of mine, but how to make a Monotangle with it? That was a nice challenge!

Diva's Challenge #232

Guest blogger Holly Atwater challenges us to participate in an Audio Challenge, (Take a look at the Diva's blog for more explanation.) or to use Betweed.

I'm always curious to experience new things, so I started Audio Challenge 1. When my tile was finished, I noticed two things:

1. I had not been listening well, which meant I created a variation of Tripoli instead of the real thing :-) No problem to me, there's no mistakes in zentangle ;-)

2. I was finished very quickly and the result is quite simple. No problem either: I can make another one :-)

And so I did, with Betweed in string 092.

Thank you very much for visiting my blog, your comments are much appreciated!

Sandy's patterns

Today, I've been playing with some patterns of Sandy Bartholomew: Escher, Fineey, Flaske and Hurry. I put them in string 169 and had a good time tangling :-)

That's New to Me: U

Our random letter at this week's Suzy Mosh' challenge is U. There are not many. Patterns starting with U, but luckily I found one that was new to me: Unyun.

U is a repeat, so we have an Artist Focus as well: Jane Monk. I chose to use Fern and put some Florz-tiles beneath. That was fun!

K-A-T challenge

Diane and Carolien challenge us to make a tile with tangles starting with K, A and T. I fancied doing Krli-Qs again and added Ahh and Tootle. I kept the tile light and airy, with lots of white space. That's nice to do every now and then ;-)

It's a String Thing #106

Sometimes, challenges don't fit me... Let's say I'm not a fan of Asian Fans (left and right om my tile) and, well... somehow this influenced my whole tile. It didn't feel very zen...

These things happen, never mind, I post it anyway :-)

If you like to try this challenge as well, go to Adele Bruno's blog!

Diva Challenge #231

Guest blogger Sharla Hicks likes us to use an old favorite undulating C or S curve tangle. I couldn't think of one straight away, so yesterday I decided to explore Isochor.

Once finished, I wasn't sure if this was the result I had in mind for this challenge. So today, I created something completely different:

Now I can't choose which one I like best. I think my mind is undulating between these two ;-)

It's always nice to take a look at the Diva's blog to see what other people created!

Joey's Challenge #74

I made myself a warm cup of tea (it's a cold and rainy summer day in Holland) and took a look at Joey's blog to see what Monotangle we were to make this week. I was pleased to find a lovely Kozy surprise :-) which I put in String 141.

That's New to Me #32: A

Suzy Mosh' challenge arrived at the letter A. We must use at least one New to Me pattern starting with this letter. Avreal is the one I chose.

Since A is a repeat, we have to add a pattern by the Artist Focus Karry Heun. I thought Palrevo would make a nice combination with an Avreal frame :-)

It's a String Thing #105

Adele Bruno's challenge arrived at string 105, a nice one (I think).

I chose to use all four suggested patterns: Daviso, Undu, Dicso and X-ess. The last two appear in a black variation at my tile, I thought it would look nicer in this composition.

Square One: Jonqual

Facebook's group Square One asks us to focus on Jonqual. I added Gneiss in the top left corner. Shadowing does make a difference!

There's quite a lot of black in this tile, probably reflecting the sad day we've had, having to say goodbye to our aunt. May she rest in peace.

Auraknotting

Today, I fancied tangling Auraknot. In the background you also see Lealad, 63Y and Jalousie. That was fun!

Joey's Challenge #73

It's time for a J Alphabet Monotangle, and the winner is... Jemz! :-)
I put them in string #151. You can visit Joey's blog to see what other people did with this challenge!

Diva's Challenge #230

This week's guest blogger is Erin Olson, she's asking us to make a Zendala. A real challenge to me, I think this is my first (or second...?) one. I sketched the template she gave us on a tile and started filling it with different kinds of patterns. Made most of them up myself, apart from Jax ;-)

At the Diva blog, you can take a look at the other entries. Always a great thing to do.

Thank you for visiting my blog, you're comments are always much appreciated!

Muster Mixer: #9

Anya and Claudia publish a montly challenge: Muster Mixer. You have to mix two given patterns. Not to create a Duotangle, but to let them melt into one another. Nice!

This month, we're mixing Tropicana and Ixorus. I decided to make a circular shape with these two:

B-E-Z challenge

Weekly challenge #18 by Diane & Carolien is to draw a tile with tangles starting with B, E and Z.

I chose string #167 and filled it with Ennies, Bales, Zuan Shi and one Borbz eye ;-)

It's a String Thing #104

We celebrate the second birthday of It's a String Thing! Adele designed a new string for this special occasion and I decided to fill the tile with Drupe and Prestwood (and leave Meringue behind). A fun and happy challenge - many congratulations to 'Mum' Adele ;-)

Joey's Challenge #72

Inapod is this week's Monotangle pattern at Joey's challenge. I love Inapod, and tried to find a way to use it in different sizes. So I ended up using the tangle both as a string ánd as a filler.

Diva Challenge #229

I spent some lovely holiday time in France where we also slept one night at Le Puy du Fou in one of these marvelous tents:

You wouldn't say, but inside there's a posh hotel room ;-)

Back home, I've got time to grab my Sakura's again and check the Diva challenge. Sandy Hunter is this week's guest blogger, nice! She asks us to shift our focus to the negatieve space (the white part) of our tile. I quite like to leave negatieve space in my tiles every now and then, and I decided to put four white parts in it. I used the tangle Kiss as a string and as a backgrond filler, and put some kind of Orbs-la-Dee to it.

Snayls Trayl and more

Today, I fancied drawing a spiral made of Snayls Trayl. Around it, you can see some widgets. The border is not an existing pattern, I think... The lines flowing out of Snayls Trayl, top right, might have a name, but I don't know which one neither :-)
